The first steering design utilized a pitman arm fabricated from a crankset. Unfortunately the distance through the arc that the steering arms were pushed / pulled, by equal amounts, in close to a straight line was not long enough. The outside wheel was pulled towards the center faster than the inside pushed out.

In the second design the steering rods mount to a carrier that travels along rails in a straight path left to right. The carrier was fabricated using three front bicycle wheel axles as rollers and is pulled by cable as the steering wheel is turned.
