Essentially a do-over of the DogSled, the BigDog was designed and built between 2009 and 2010. Thinner chromoly tubing and design changes reduced overall weight by more than half when compared to the DogSled. Drivetrain modifications also reduced much of the drag that the DogSled design introduced.

Design exploration and the final design process utilized software to create digital 3D models and dimensioned line drawings. Cross sections and details were developed as required. Steering geometry studies were also created.
