Revised Axle Flange Bearing Detail
Initially bearings with snap rings were inserted into each end of the axle tubes. The axle tubes had warped when welded so that each end did not
accurately align. This caused added drag as the straight rear axle ran through the mis-aligned bearings. Flange bearings allow some adjustment
and were added to compensate. The original bearings can be seen in the sidebar image at left.
